Focus on what you want (Part 1)

01 Sep Focus on what you want (Part 1)

Life at times can be overwhelming.

It can seem directionless or aimless as you float from day to day, week to week, year to year.

We often don’t give ourselves to time to think about what it is we want in life.

We get a job, pay bills, have a family and do what is expected of us.

Goals give us the direction, focus, and motivation that we sometimes seek in life.

Turning something you want in life into a goal/s, is a really great way to make it happen.

That’s because you’re making a decision to act, in order to get what you want

To make sure you reach your goal/s and get what you want, you need to first work out what it is you want.

Some clients tell me that is the hardest question to answer because they have never really thought about what they want.

When you work that out, then it’s about what goal/s to set and how you will achieve them or what actions you will take.

“Learn from the past, set vivid, detailed goals for the future,

and live in the only moment of time over which you have any control: now.”

~ Denis Waitley

Where to begin?

To get the most benefit out of achieving your goals they need to mean something to you.

You need to know what is important to you and what you want.

This is often the hardest step as we tend not to spend time thinking about what we really want.

Things to consider when working out what you want.

What are your strengths and what do you enjoy doing?

A goal doesn’t have to be huge, it can be any size.

If it is a big hairy goal then sometimes breaking it down into smaller goals can make it seem less overwhelming.

It can be about some or all areas of your life such as relationships, career, health, depending on what you want to achieve.

Only focus on what you do want (not what you don’t want), as what you focus on is what you will get!

“Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible.”

Tony Robbins
